Residents receive social talk
Residents advised about different symptoms of depression.
SOCIAL Development and Ward 57 councillor Faeeza Chame hosted a social talk specifically for women around the ward at South Hills Recreation Centre on March 8.
The Society for the Blind, elderly and women from different walks of life were invited to the event. The purpose of the event was to create a dialogue between officials from social development and attendees on how to tackle depression and suicide. Clr Chame says people can find themselves depressed for different reasons.
Therefore, people were advised by guest speakers from social development and other sectors on how to tackle symptoms such as feeling tired, guilty, restless or agitated and having trouble concentrating. Attendees were told not to shy away from visiting the local clinic to get help.
“I would advise individuals to report to the clinic if they have strange symptoms like feeling sad or depressed or lost pleasure in doing normal activities,” said Chame.
