Mass prayer meeting conducted to defuse killings

The purpose of the prayer meeting was to seek God's guidance following the recent killings in Rosettenville.

MOFFAT View CPF Precinct Sector One, in collaboration with Sanco Ward 56, conducted a mass prayer meeting on March 29 at Rosettenville Primary School.

The purpose of the prayer meeting was to seek God’s guidance following the recent killings in Rosettenville. Moffat View SAPS, JMPD, Ward 56 councillor Michael Crichton, interfaith and business owners were among the attendees.

Moffatview CPF Sector One chairperson Justice Mogotlane said the only way to prevent such killings is for residents to turn back to God for divine intervention.

“It pains us to see families losing they’re loved ones at the hands of another. We as residents need to come together and fight this crime and we shouldn’t be scared to report crimes, no matter how small they might seem. I hope this venture with local pastors will help in defusing these killings,” said Mogotlane.

The families of those who lost their lives in recent killings attended the prayer and some grieving family members continuously wept.

Guest speakers uttered messages of comfort to the families.

Crichton shared his sentiments as well when he also encouraged families and residents to ask God for protection at all times.

“This meeting is very important and it was of high importance that we have such gatherings where local pastors and distinguished local community members come together in one accord,” said Crichton.
