Maimane visits Turffontein

Maimane says we need to secure our borders.

DEMOCRATIC Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane engaged with residents of Gauteng at Turffontein Racecourse on April 10 to discuss an immigration plan to secure the country’s borders.

Maimane was joined by Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba, DA Gauteng premier candidate Solly Msimanga and Team One SA spokesperson on immigration Jacques Julius.

Maimane expressed his fears of illegal foreign nationals in the country as he claimed that most drug lords and sellers of rotten products are foreigners.

“We need to make this nation a safe place where our children will be safe. We aren’t against foreigners, but we don’t want people to come into our country illegally. Our hospitals can’t provide services for our people because services are offered to illegal foreigners,” said Maimane.

People applauded Maimane’s speech. He further said it pains him to see local businesses dying because of illegal foreigners.

“We as residents in the communities need to support each other and make a point of it that local businesses don’t die while we are around. We need to secure our borders and make sure all foreigners are registered to be here,” said Maimane.

Mashaba and Msimanga supported Maimane’s speech by saying that foreigners must be registered to be in this country. No illegal foreigner should be allowed. Msimanga said they aren’t against foreign nationals as people know he’s married to a Zambian woman, but for people to be here they must be registered.
