#IMadeMyMark: Community leaders share their views on elections
Different views on elections.

What people expect from the elections. The COURIER took the question to community leaders and this is what they had to say.
Mongameli Arous from Jackson informal settlement
I expect clean elections and hope after this there will be a change in this country. I’m certain all will go well. Also, not forgetting that the IEC promised us fair and accurate elections so all that I expect is change.
Zakes Mabote from Naturena
I believe South Africans are tired of empty promises, corruption, money laundering, lack of jobs and service delivery. Therefore, voters are going to give opposition parties a chance to improve their lives because people have cried enough.
Simphiwe Dlomo, community leader from Turffontein
Voting is a right, not a privilege of every citizen who is eligible to vote. It is that vote that will be able to make his voice be heard at parliament level in all the spheres of government. It is that right that will put in power the government that each and every person will make and participate in that process of electing a part that has a clear manifesto that talks to its people. Is very important for everyone to vote so you can have your voice be heard. If you don’t vote you don’t have a right to complain and by voting you are not doing it for you but for the future generations that are coming after you. It must be in our culture that voting will let you be what you want in life.
Faried Davids from South Hills
I would like to say for a better chance, we should fight corruption, honest and professional services in government, fair access to jobs, better education and secure our borders. Service delivery in repairs to government hospitals create jobs so that crime in our communities can decrease and restore the freedom and love amongst us. Lastly, voting is for our future children to have a better life. All of that can be achieved by voters on May 8.
Isaac Davis from South Hills
As a community member, I would like the upcoming elections to be free and fair and for the politicians to keep to their promises and deliver once they are voted into power.
