SABC’s chief auditor fell victim to an attempted car-hijacking on June 7 in Oakdene, but he bravely fought back.
According to the victim, he was driving back to his home when a silver Daihatsu stopped next to him. Suddenly, an unknown black man holding a firearm came rushing to his door ordering him to step out of the vehicle.
In the midst of that hostility, another two armed suspects appeared.
In a statement the victim said that fearing for his life he quickly drew out his 9mm pistol and commenced firing at the suspects and one was shot while the other two drove off with an accomplice, leaving the one who was shot lying on the ground.
It’s unclear if any of the suspects that fled the scene was injured as the victim kept on firing while they were fleeing.
The injured suspect sustained injuries in his left leg and left arm and was taken to the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital under police guard.
The Moffat View SAPS is still investigating the case.
