SAPS needs help in solving a hit-and-run

SAPS in search of a driver who committed a hit-and-run.

AN unknown pedestrian was left fatally injured after being bumped by two vehicles, with the driver of the first fleeing from the scene.

According to Booysens SAPS, on July 7, a JMPD officer received a call informing him about an incident on M1 South Freeway.

On the arrival of the officer, he found one vehicle on the scene. This vehicle was one of the vehicles which bumped the pedestrian.

The Booysens SAPS communications officer, Capt Lorraine van Emmerik, said the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle which left the scene and was then hit by a second vehicle.

“The driver of the second vehicle stopped after hitting the pedestrian and called an ambulance. The driver also helped the police with the information of the first vehicle,” said Emmerik.

Booysens SAPS is appealing to the driver of the first vehicle to come forward and submit his statement of what took place. The driver or anyone with detailed information can contact WO Chris Qupe on 011 433 5342 or 078 540 1256.
