A case of culpable homicide opened after a pedestrian dies in Bellavista

Help needed to solve culpable homicide case.

THE DRIVER of a white Golf, reportedly involved in a car accident, is being sought by Booysens SAPS.

On June 1, a JMPD officer attended an accident in Rosina Street in Bellavista, where a pedestrian was knocked over and subsequently died.

According to Capt Lorraine van Emmerik, Booysens SAPS communications officer, upon arrival the officer noticed one vehicle and the pedestrian who was bumped by a vehicle.

“When he enquired what had happened he was informed the deceased attempted to cross the road when a Golf, which was driving at a high speed, bumped him. The driver of the Golf continued driving and fled the scene,” said van Emmerik.

The case was given to Warrant Officer Chris Qupe to investigate and a case of culpable homicide was opened.

Qupe is appealing to the driver of the white Golf to come and submit his statement as soon as possible to avoid further problems.
