Great fun for children at South Rand Hospital
These children attend therapy every month with the relevant allied departments.
ON December 6, the paediatric allied therapists (occupational therapists, speech therapists and audiologists and physiotherapists) at South Rand Hospital arranged a year-end event for children that are in therapy.
These children attend therapy sessions every month with the relevant allied departments.
The reason for this event was to allow the children to enjoy and participate in a Christmas party, celebrating all their hard work and for their caregivers to be acknowledged for their hard work that they have done for their children in bringing them to therapy.
The event started with eating delicious pizza and drinking cold drinks that were kindly donated by Mr and Mrs Forgiarini where they bought the pizza from Casta Luzzo Pizzeria.
The children then enjoyed decorating their reindeer popcorn packs, which also encouraged them to use fine motor skills.
An exciting part of the day involved a jumping castle that was kindly sponsored by A-Z Party Hire.
They were surprised with a visit from Santa who handed out party packs that was sponsored by The Sweet Factory as well as BHCC, and certificates to each child.
Trophies were also awarded to those children who ‘graduated’ from therapy. Face paint was also sponsored by BHCC where children could have a Christmas decoration painted onto their face.
Another Christmas party was held on December 4 by for children with Cerebral Palsy or other developmental difficulties that attend South Rand Hospital for therapy.
Staff arranged snacks for the caregivers and children to enjoy, and various games were arranged.
The children loved playing ‘pass-the-parcel’ where they each won a prize generously donated by Geodim Toy Distributors.
Social interaction among caregivers and play among the children was encouraged and all had an afternoon of smiling and laughter.

The allied staff would like to thank Geodim Toy Distributors, Mr and Mrs Forgiarini, BHCC, A-Z Party Hire and The Sweet Factory who very kindly assisted us in making these events a true success and memorable for the paediatrics who attended. These companies give back to their community and for that we are eternally grateful.
They all look forward to the year ahead and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
