Reuven residents receive grocery gift parcels

The organisation was established recently by a group of men who realised that many people are suffering because of the high unemployment rate and the high cost of living.

REUVEN Retirement Village residents received grocery gift packs from the non-profit organisation India Cares with gratitude and relief last Saturday.

Spokesperson for the organisation, Sreek Kalluri, said the organisation was established recently by a group of men who realised that many people are suffering because of the high unemployment rate and the high cost of living.

“We felt an urge to do something to alleviate the conditions our people have to endure, especially the elderly. We are working people and are supported by our families and sponsors,” he said.

The organisation also came to the rescue of Jerry Theys, a resident of Reuven, who had been struggling for almost two years with a 22-year-old computer printer that needed to be replaced.

“I desperately needed a printer because I am currently busy with my dissertation for a doctorate in metaphysical science.

“A printer that prints, scans and makes photocopies is a great asset and makes my work so much easier.

“I am deeply indebted to the organisers of India Cares, who realised my need and donated a brand-new Canon printer.

“I wish to extend my gratitude to the organisation. May it grow from strength to strength,” said Theys.

Caroline Ngoasheng, chairperson of the organising committee at Reuven, who requested the printer from India Cares, also extended her gratitude for the printer.

She also thanked India Cares for the groceries.

“It was indeed an essential gift that came just in time for the festive season,” she said.
