Johannesburg Flying Squad weekend success

Communications officer Raymond Sambo said investigations continue in all cases.

FROM January 10 to 13, Johannesburg Flying Squad members arrested 27 suspects for different crimes in different areas in Johannesburg and recovered seven stolen and hijacked vehicles.

Among the 27 suspects arrested, 14 were arrested for possession of stolen property, three for fraud, one for bribery, two for theft common, one for housebreaking and six for possession of drugs.

They further recovered five stolen vehicles, white Isuzu KB250 bakkie, a white Toyota Corolla, white BMW X1, silver Toyota Etios and a white Kia Sorento and two hijacked vehicles, a white Toyota Corolla and a silver Hyundai.

Communications officer Raymond Sambo said investigations continue in all cases.

“Working together with the community led to these recoveries. SAPS appreciates the public for their contribution. All 27 suspects, aged between 25 and 38, will be appearing soon in different magistrate’s courts facing their charges, which include possession of stolen property, common theft, fraud, bribery, housebreaking and possession of drugs,” he said.
