Substation in Thulisa Park being used as a toilet and a dumpsite

“This substation should be made safer by building a roof over it and proper gates and a lock should be installed to secure it,” she said.

After a number of complaints from Thulisa Park residents with regards to the people living at the so called ‘rubbish house’ at 16 Austin Street, councillor Faeeza Chame visited the house.

Chame couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw a substation being used as a toilet and a dumpsite.

She told the COURIER that she is disturbed by the conditions of the place and what frustrates her more is the vandalisation of the substation.

“The vagrants are dumping their rubbish at the substation and faeces are all over.

“The overgrown grass in this place is disturbing. It must be cut because this attracts thugs as they can use it as a hideout spot,” said Chame.

Another concern for Chame is that ratepayers are being affected by the ‘misuse’ of the substation since they occasionally have blackouts because of the vagrants.

“This substation should be made safer by building a roof over it and proper gates and a lock should be installed to secure it,” she said.

Substation is a mess.
