Elanspark residents build wall to curb robberies
In the past the precast wall was repaired by some residents, but as soon as the wall was repaired it was broken down again by thieves that come from the N17.
Due to regular crime in Elandspark, a group of concerned residents got together to assist in building and repairing the wall beneath the pylons in Sangiro Street.
The residents who are affected by this open wall have taken it upon themselves to put the plan together to replace the broken slabs. In the past the precast wall was repaired by some residents, but as soon as the wall was repaired it was broken down again by thieves that come from the N17.
The Elandspark residents have had several meetings with Sanral to find a solution to the problem as the open land that belongs to them.
Sanral committed to fixing the wall. They came a few times to mend the fence, but as was noted, it never lasted and therefore the committed neighbours had to find their own solution. As soon as Sanral fixed the fence the criminals would vandalise the fence to gain excess in to Elandspark and rob the houses that are on the boundary of the N17.
The residents came up with a plan where they put money together to build a precast wall with barbed wire on top. Hopefully this will keep the criminals away and the residents will have peace.
Comment has been requested from Sanral and it will be published as soon as it is received.
