Randhart family finds dogs poisoned and cat decapitated
The McKenzie family is left in a state of devastation after they lost two of their pitbull puppies and discovering one of their cats' head was cut off on June 7.

They made the gruesome discovery on June 7 when the family of six found two of their furry friends dead in their yard and soon after found one of their cats decapitated in someone else’s yard.
The fluffy cat, “Simba”, was found in one of the houses in the neighbourhood by a startled homeowner who found it in the early hours on Sunday. The homeowner immediately reported the incident to the pet owner, letting them know about the tragedy.
Jimmy McKenzie, the pet owner, said the mysterious deaths have left the family alarmed and concerned. “In one day, our six months old puppies were poisoned and one of our cats was beheaded and its right front paw was also cut off. It seemed like the cat was thrown into this yard because our cat would not walk that far. I also don?t think dogs would’ve bitten whoever did this to them,” he said.

He told the RECORD that he suspected the poisoning of his dogs to be linked to some criminal element.
“I believe the poison was actually meant for my other two big dogs, to try and get them out of the way in order for the person to jump over the wall. A couple of months ago we had someone who tried to jump over the fence, but ran off immediately after seeing the dogs,” said McKenzie.
Not only did the animal lover lose his three friendly pets, one of his cats, Junior, also went missing the same day. McKenzie said he had a close relationship with his pets and that he was not taking the loss lightly.
“My pets were playful and friendly. I don’t understand why someone would do something like this. They were more like my grandchildren and after doing shopping, they would be the first ones to look at what was in the shopping bag,” he said.
He advised pet owners to keep their furry friends indoors to avoid similar instances. If anyone finds Junior, McKenzie’s missing cat, they may contact him on 074 220 7827.
Sipho Letsoalo, a recently appointed inspector at Alberton SPCA, said they have noticed that dogs are being poisoned in the area and advised people to be on the lookout.
