Elandspark night market helps small businesses

The Elandspark Residents Association (ERA) will again host a night market on December 5 from 5pm to 10pm at the Elandspark Shopping Centre.

It promises to be a night to remember, with food ranging from tikka chicken and roti to bunny chows and boerie rolls. There will be something for everyone. The entertainment line-up includes a live band and karaoke competition.

Leah Fortoen from ERA said the previous night market on November 7 was great.

“What a night it was. From good food to awesome entertainment, great fun was had by all. Strict Covid-19 protocols were adhered to and residents from all areas in Johannesburg South supported the initiative. “Local business owners donated tents, tables and chairs as well as their time and skills to ensure the event was a great success.”

Food stalls included the Filthy Moustache food truck, Indian cuisine, homemade milk tarts, gourmet ice cream, koeksisters, confectionaries, flaming hot sauces and much more.

“Chilli Funk provided entertainment which got young and old dancing to the beats. Local artists showcased their paintings while the craft stalls included locally made beaded jewellery, handbags, masks and a succulent garden with handmade arrangements and gifting. The ERA would like to thank community members for their participation and support,” she said.

The market enabled small businesses in Elandspark and surrounding areas to promote their products and services while raising much-needed funds to uplift the community.
