Good news for water-logged flats in South Hills

In Bubu Xuba's statement, she said the City is aware of the condition of this building and is acting speedily to refurbish it.

Residents of Atwell House in South Hills can breathe a sigh of relief after Bubu Xuba from the housing department’s communications office confirmed to the COURIER the refurbishment of their flats is nigh.

In her statement, she said the City is aware of the condition of this building and is acting speedily to refurbish it.

“Detailed conditional assessments of all the units were done during November by consulting engineers who immediately proceeded to draw up tender documents for the complete refurbishment of the plumbing in all of these units.

“The project was subsequently put out to tender. All prospective tenderers attended a compulsory site meeting prior to submitting their tenders. The bids received were evaluated and final reports for allocation of the tender were finalised and are being considered.

“Final approval of the tender and allocation to the successful bidder is expected by end of February, with work to commence shortly thereafter,” explained Xuba.
