Help Phophi’s dream come true

“I am pleading for help to reach my dreams.”

Born and raised in Kibler Park, 15-year-old model Phophi Muleya is chasing a dream.

She told the COURIER she has been passionate about modelling since the age of nine.

“The journey started when my parents noticed my passion. They took me seriously when they saw how I would imitate models on television.

“Along the way, I discovered my other talents: dancing and acting.”

She said her parents did not waste time and she applied to get into the National School of the Arts and was accepted.

Phophi has always drawn inspiration from talent on television and social media. She tries to connect with people in the industry and, according to her, some have been helpful.

“I do a lot of research because I want to learn more. I believe I am where I am today because I am doing what I love. I am also grateful for my parents who are always there to support me,” she said.

On June 3 Phophi had an online audition with talent scouts and she also auditioned for the ItsArtsAfrica showcase on the same day. She received a callback to showcase her talents at Southern Silverstar Hotel for international talent scouts.

“After performing at Southern Silverstar Hotel, I received an international callback and an opportunity to showcase my talents in New York City at the International Model and Talent Association (IMTA).”

Phophi has been having some challenges in raising funds for her trip to New York and asked for sponsorship.

“I am having some difficulties raising funds for my trip. The target goal is R100 000, which will help with accommodation for a week and also my return flight.

“I understand we are still facing many difficulties with Covid-19 and many companies could not assist. I am pleading for help to reach my dreams. People can donate any amount of their choice,” she said.

Those who can assist can call Phophi’s mother on 071 200 1678.
