Staff of Revival City College was among many in the education sector that received the vaccination on July 5 at Alberton Civic Centre.

July 5 saw most of the staff of Revival City College visit the Alberton Civic Centre hall to receive their Covid-19 vaccination.

There are at least 60 vaccination sites in Gauteng, Alberton Civic Centre is one of them.

This comes after the recent announcement of the vaccine roll-out in the education sector through which thousands have benefitted from.

On June 23, Gauteng’s MEC for Education, Panyaza Lesufi, made a heartfelt plea to education officials to get their Covid-19 vaccinations.

“If you check the Covid-19 infection numbers that are increasing in our schools, you will see that it is very important that we protect our educators. Every learner comes from a family and goes back to that family and you don’t want the child to be carrying the virus. If you can protect the children, you can protect everyone,” said Lesufi.

Misty Hutchins, the deputy principal at Revival City College, said: “The staff was well aware that receiving the vaccination was only a preventative measure. Each person would still be required to ensure they followed the correct Covid-19 protocols both at the college and in their private lives.”

She reiterated that by working together, each person would contribute toward winning against the deadly pandemic.

Natalie Louw, principal at the college, said she was proud of her staff for weighing up the pros and cons of receiving the vaccination and for deciding in favour of being vaccinated.
