Sassa adjusts service delivery during level four
Sassa is advising social grant recipients of the adjusted service delivery schedule put in place to ensure compliance to the adjusted level four lockdown regulations announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa on June 27.
Services across all Sassa offices will be provided as follows:
• Grants for older persons will be processed on Mondays
• Disability and care dependency grants will be issued on Tuesdays
• Children’s grants will be issued on Wednesdays and Thursdays
• Sassa offices will handle appointments and the overflow from the week on Fridays
Sassa will be providing services with reduced staff capacity as per regulations. It will manage the numbers in the queue and if the numbers for a specific day for the designated grant do not reach the maximum number that can be attended to, applicants for other grant types will not be turned away but be attended to.
Should the number of clients exceed the number that can be handled by officials, these beneficiaries will be provided with the next date.
Sassa will not be in a position to offer home visits as the environment to where the staff members are sent cannot be controlled. Should there be requests for assistance in extreme cases, Sassa will assess their ability to provide services on an individual basis. Staff and client protection and safety will be taken into account at all times.
Clients who have access to the internet and devices are encouraged to apply online at https://services.sassa.gov.za except for disability-related grants such as grant-in-aid, care dependency grant and disability grant (the grants that require a doctors assessment).
Clients who want to book for a disability assessment are encouraged to use the online booking system. This will assist with preventing citizens from going to the offices without appointment dates. Access to the online disability assessment booking system is through the Sassa website.
Clients are encouraged to apply for reconsiderations and appeals using forms, which are available on the website and to submit these at GrantEnquieriesGP@sassa.gov.za as this will reduce the number of clients coming to offices for these services.
