Bambanani is a refuge for less fortunate

About 100 people weekly benefit from Bambanani's feeding scheme.

Bambanani continues to feed hundreds of destitute adults and children at a parking lot where KWIKSPAR used to be in Tramway Street, Turffontein, on Tuesdays at 13:00.

Bambanani is a community care service organisation in partnership with Deeds of Love Ministries and has been operational in the South since 2015.

It was started after seeing the plight of the destitute, the homeless, poor, the hungry and the needy in the area.

Its director, Past Michael Ho, said Bambanani has adopted and is engaged in a number of community projects like home for the blind, retirement village, informal settlements and children’s home, and supporting other organisations operating shelters for the homeless and rehabilitation centres.

“We run a mobile soup kitchen, feeding about 100 people per week. We collect clothes and furniture to distribute them to those in need and handing out food parcels to the less fortunate not only in Johannesburg but countrywide and across Southern Africa.

“Bambanani is engaged in youth work organising activities like camps, picnics, ice skating, hikes during school holidays.

“We host weekly meetings for young people, educating them about relationships, finances and substance abuse.

Besides youth work, Bambanani is active among the elderly, hosting pensioners’ breakfasts, lunches and outings.

“As a multi-cultural and small NPO with limited funds, Bambanani depends entirely on the donation of individuals, sports clubs, businesses and churches.

“All our workers and volunteers do not receive a salary, assuring our donors that whatever is received is directed towards the less fortunate. We are the most grateful if any persons and companies would draw alongside us in these difficult times to impact our society making the world a better place for all,” explained Ho.

Donations may be dropped off at their offices 20 Fanous Road, West Turffontein.
