Meredale’s Ntombizokuhle Flatela aims to help a girl child stay in school

Flatela's mission is to help her community grow and prosper.

Meredale’s Ntombizokuhle Flatela (22) wants to help young girls who cannot afford sanitary pads monthly.

To achieve this, she entered Miss Township SA, which advocates anti-bullying in schools. In society, especially for women and children who suffer from depression and eating disorders, she would like to redefine society’s norms and standards.

The financial management postgraduate student from the University of Johannesburg is doing a sanitary pad drive for young school girls who can’t afford sanitary pads to help them stay in school.

“The community is welcome to donate pads by contacting me at ntombieflatela@gmail.com or my social media platforms – Facebook: zokuhle Ntombi Flatela and Instagram: ntombi_flatela.

“I plan on developing my own foundation that will help the youth in my community to access empowering programmes, such as peer mentoring and coaching and moulding their future. I plan to help children from different backgrounds to pursue their careers.

“Winning the Miss Township SA title will help me achieve my goal to continue to succeed, help many youngsters and improve the lives of many.

“I plan on using the platform for my voice to be heard and for me to be a beacon of hope to all who have lost their voice in society. I want young girls to look up to me and know they too can do it. I believe we can all build a better nation by helping each other grow and prosper,” explained Ntombizokuhle.

Miss Township SA will take place in Pretoria on May 28.
