Abducted resident found after hijacking in South Rand Road

The suspects were located using all the technology available to law enforcement.

A hijacking occurred on June 2 on South Rand Road in the Linmeyer area where suspects drove off with the vehicle with a female still in the vehicle.

SAPS with the help of Fidelity ADT’s specialised investigation unit and other security companies jumped into action to find the vehicle and the woman.

Wendy Van Rensburg, Fidelity ADT branch manager far East said: “Vehicles were stationed at intersections while others were driving around looking for the car. All the security cameras and Licence Plate Recognition cameras were activated and the footage reviewed. The woman’s bank card was also tracked and the chase was on from ATM to ATM at various petrol stations to try to catch the suspects.”

The chase showed results with the suspects being arrested in La Rochelle after they changed vehicles.
The suspects were taken to the veld where they dumped the vehicle where officials found the woman still in the vehicle.

The woman was taken to hospital.

“This was a great example of exceptional teamwork. We are so relieved that our customer’s wife was found and the vehicle recovered. We wish the family all the best as they recover from this ordeal,” said van Rensburg.
