The two women accused of murdering six-year-old Ryan Mutinzi appeared before the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court again on June 30, after previously being denied bail.
Desiree and Lungile Ndebele were each charged with murder and defeating the ends of justice.
According to medical records, the child died as a result of dehydration, poor oral hygiene and malnutrition.
The medical study also disclosed that a harmful chemical substance was applied to the body of the deceased, causing burns and other injuries to his skin.
The suspects will appear in court again on July 28 after their matter was postponed due to outstanding evidence.
