
Johannesburg Flying Squad members arrested eight suspects for different crimes in different areas in Johannesburg and recovered one vehicle and three unlicensed firearms with ammunition from July 29 to August 2.
Five suspects were arrested for having unlicensed firearms and ammunition, one for housebreaking and two for being in possession of drugs.
A blue BMW 530, hijacked from the owner, was recovered.
Three firearms, a 9mm CZ pistol, 9mm Parabellum and 9mm Retay pistol with ammunition were recovered and booked in at the SAP 13 store.
Johannesburg Flying Squad communication officer, special police officer Raymond Sambo said the investigation continues in all cases.
He also said working with the community led to these recoveries. “SAPS appreciates the public for their contribution. It should also be noted that to get information regarding the recovered vehicles, people may contact the relevant detective by quoting their case number.
“The eight suspects aged between 25 and 35 appeared in different magistrate’s courts facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearms with ammunition, house break-in and possession of drugs,” he said.
