An accidental shooting caused the death of a woman in Meyersdal on the evening of August 7.
Circumstances surrounding the shooting is still unclear.
Reports from Brackendowns SAPS state that the gun went off and a family member visiting the home was fatally shot in the chest.
Despite emergency services arriving at the scene in time, the aunt could not be saved.
An inquest was opened at Brackendowns SAPS and is being investigated.
