Mzansi National Philharmonic Orchestra comes to Johannesburg
The Mzansi National Philharmonic Orchestra will celebrate Women’s Day with a tour performance. Don't miss out.
After a spectacular inaugural national tour last year, the stage awaits the second national tour of the Mzansi National Philharmonic Orchestra.
The tour will run in Women’s Month from August 10 to 14, and their performance in Johannesburg is scheduled for 19:30 on August 10 at the Linder Auditorium.
Marin Alsop, the first woman conductor to serve as the head of a major orchestra in the US, UK, South America and Austria, will lead the tour.

Soloist Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha, the award-winning Limpopo soprano and current BBC Radio 3 New Generation artist, winner of the Cardiff Singer of the World, and Daily Maverick’s artist of the year runner-up last year, will also grace the stage.

Bongani Tembe, the orchestra’s chief executive and artistic director, said: “Our audiences will be delighted to hear that Marin Alsop will return for this year’s tour after her sensational appearances last year. We are thrilled that the accomplished SA dramatic soprano, Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha, will be our soloist this year. Cecilia has a special talent coupled with a warm heart and personality.”

The repertoire for all three venues includes an operatic first half of beautiful and dramatic arias. After the intermission, the audience can expect Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No 5.
Tickets are now on sale at Quicket.
