Celebrating 60 years of belonging and excellence at Marist Brothers Linmeyer

This milestone is not only a tribute to the past but a celebration of the enduring spirit that continues to define the school’s identity.

On January 25, Marist Brothers Linmeyer celebrated six decades of shaping young minds, nurturing faith and building a community grounded in belonging.
For 60 years, our school has stood as a beacon of connection and support, where students, families and staff know they are valued, encouraged and inspired to grow. This milestone is not only a tribute to the past but a celebration of the enduring spirit that continues to define the school’s identity.
From its beginnings in 1966, when the institution opened its doors as the Marian College under the guidance of Brother Christopher and welcomed its first group of 258 boys, the school has steadily evolved. What began as a small educational community in the then-peri-urban surrounds of Linmeyer has since grown into a dynamic and vibrant institution, proudly known today as Marist Brothers Linmeyer. Throughout its history, the school has upheld its mission of holistic education, balancing rigorous academics with strong spiritual development, cultural enrichment and sporting achievement.
The journey to this 60-year milestone has been one marked by success and resilience. Across the decades, students have been encouraged to excel in the classroom, on the sports fields and on the cultural stage, consistently demonstrating discipline, talent and determination. The school’s emphasis on character formation and faith has ensured that its young people grow not only as scholars, athletes or artists, but also as compassionate and grounded individuals.
Today, Marist Brothers Linmeyer is recognised as a leading school of choice, known for providing a nurturing, joyful and supportive environment where students can thrive. The sense of belonging that defines the school is woven into daily life; in classrooms alive with curiosity, on playgrounds filled with friendship, in worship opportunities and in the shared traditions that bind generations of families together.
As Marist Brothers Linmeyer marks this historic anniversary, our special Thanksgiving Mass served as a moment to reflect, give thanks and honour the legacy of those who contributed to its growth. It was a time to acknowledge the visionaries who laid the foundation, the teachers who dedicated their lives to their vocation, the families who entrusted their children to the school’s care and the students whose energy and promise continue to inspire the community.
The celebration of 60 years is not only a commemoration of what has been achieved, but also a commitment to the future. Marist Brothers Linmeyer remains dedicated to its mission of excellence, academically, spiritually, culturally and socially, and to cultivating an environment where every student feels they belong, supported and empowered to reach their full potential. With faith as its guide and the Marist foundation as its strength, our school looks confidently toward the next six decades.
Here’s to 60 years of belonging. Here’s to excellence rooted in tradition. And here’s to the bright future ahead for Marist Brothers Linmeyer.
