Six suspects arrested in Johannesburg

SAPS appreciates the public for their contribution in curbing crime.

Johannesburg Flying Squad members arrested six suspects in Johannesburg and recovered one firearm and one stolen vehicle from April 28 to May 2.

Three were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, one for possession of illicit cigarettes (500 cartons) and two for conspiracy to commit robbery.

A 9mm Lorcin P25 Stylus pistol with two magazines and ammunition were recovered in Parktown North and booked at Parkview SAPS and a white Opel Mokka that was recovered hijacked from the owner was booked at Aeroton SAP 13.

Johannesburg Flying Squad communication officer Raymond Sambo said the investigation continues in all cases.

“Working together with the community led to these recoveries. SAPS appreciates the public for their contribution. It should also be noted that for any information regarding the vehicles, one may contact the relevant detective quoting the relevant case number.

“The suspects appeared at different magistrate’s courts facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunitions, possession of illicit cigarettes and conspiracy to commit robbery,” he said.
