Sheldon Terry’s fraud case might move to commercial court

The Meyersdal suspect will appear in court on April 2.

The pre-trial of Sheldon Terry’s fraud case that was supposed to sit from March 5 to 7 at the Booysens Magistrate’s Court was postponed.

The postponement is to allow certain amendments to the charge sheet and for Magistrate Matshitse to pronounce whether the case will continue at Booysens Magistrate’s Court or move to other courts like the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court. The magistrate will make this decision on April 2.

Matshitse said after consultation with the State and Defence to learn whether they could rearrange this matter, they agreed the matter must start and go until the end. With him, who might not be available throughout the case, the suggestion on the matter would be taken by another presiding officer here (Booysens Magistrate’s Court) or moved to the Johannesburg or Commercial Court.

Terry first appeared in court on December 21, 2021, and is out on R5 000 bail.

His bail conditions remain, and he must still observe them.
