Body found in Turffontein quarry
Police are investigating after a young man was found dead in a quarry early on Monday morning.
Booysens police have opened an inquest after the body of a man was found in a quarry on Turffontein Road in Turffontein, Johannesburg South, on July 21.
According to Johannesburg Flying Squad communication officer SPO Raymond Sambo, members were dispatched to the scene at around 06:00.
“Upon arrival, the body of a 25-year-old male was recovered from a quarry approximately one metre deep. It was handed over to Booysens SAPS members on scene,” said Sambo.
The circumstances surrounding the man’s death remain unclear at this stage. Police have opened an inquest docket to investigate further.
