Johannesburg Flying Squad swoops on drugs and cars

Police seized Mandrax worth R13 000 in separate busts and recovered a stolen Toyota Venture and Hyundai Accent.

JHB Flying Squad and K9 Unit members arrested two people and recovered two vehicles on July 28.

At about 13:30, flying squad members were patrolling the corner of 7th Avenue in Bez Valley when a man ran into a house after seeing them.

Officers followed the man and, while searching him, found Mandrax with a street value of R12 000.

They arrested the man for drug possession and detained him at the Jeppe SAPS.

Earlier that day, at about 11:00, JHB K9 members patrolling the Booysens policing area searched another man and found Mandrax worth R 1 000.

In a separate case on the same day, flying squad members recovered two abandoned cars: A blue Toyota Venture, reported stolen, on Wolhuter Street in Jeppe, and a silver Hyundai Accent, believed to have been used in the commission of a crime, on Kliprivier Drive in the Suideroord/Mondoer areas.

Both vehicles were handed over to the pound for further investigation and safekeeping.
