Housebreaking suspect arrested after swift response in Meredale
Quick thinking by a community member and the rapid response of CPS Security's tactical team led to the arrest of one suspect.
A suspected housebreaker was arrested in Meredale after a vigilant member of the public alerted CPS Security’s tactical team to suspicious activity at a property in Maureen Street.
Upon arrival, the tactical team found two suspects fleeing the scene on foot. Officers gave chase and successfully apprehended one of the suspects, while the second managed to evade arrest.
Fortunately, no property was stolen. The suspects were interrupted before they could leave the premises, despite having already gathered several household items, including electronic devices, and loaded them into a wheelie bin in preparation for their escape.
Members of Mondeor SAPS attended the scene, where a housebreaking case was opened. The arrested suspect was handed over for further investigation.
CPS Security commended the swift actions of its tactical team and expressed its appreciation to the vigilant community member whose prompt report helped prevent yet another housebreaking incident.
