Police join forces to arrest over 100 suspects in Gauteng

More investigations continue for the cases.

Rapid Response Services comprising the flying squad, K9 units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 106 suspects, and recovered 37 motor vehicles and 12 firearms from January 26 to February 1.

Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 48 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, common robbery, trespassing, possession of illicit cigarettes, rape, attempted murder, theft, bribery, fraud, contempt of court and illegal immigrant.

Thirty-seven hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with nine arrests for the possession of these vehicles. Twelve unlicensed firearms were recovered accompanying 14 arrests.

In further policing, 35 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs. Heroine, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.

Investigation continues in these cases. The suspects appeared in the local magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
