Glenvista Parkinson’s Group hosts successful year-end celebration
The Parkinson's Group makes life better for people with Parkinson's disease.
The Parkinson’s Group, Glenvista Chapter held their year-end function on November 9 at the Renaissance Retirement Village.
The function was a great success, a large spread as well as a great turnout ensured the day was filled with joy and comradery.
The Parkinson’s Group is a support group for those who have Parkinson’s disease and for those who look after someone who has the condition.
The group meet at the Renaissance home every second Saturday of the month and shares medical advice based on lived experience and research.
Members listen to one another and assist where possible.
Helping each other gives members purpose. They are like a team, who learn from one another and ensure they are not alone in the fight against Parkinson’s.
Mark Hutchinson, the chairperson of the Glenvista Chapter spoke about the importance of the support the group provides.
“We simply help one another and compare notes, we see what medication works for each of us, refer one another to doctors and form a support structure for those living with Parkinson’s,” said Mark. “You can’t save everyone but at least in this way we can help in any way possible,” he continued.
Through research and experience dealing with the condition members can aid one another in recovery and to live a full life.
