Residents plagued by potholes and burst water pipes in Mulbarton

Burst pipes and large potholes cause Mulbarton residents to look for other solutions.

Mulbarton residents of True North Road held a meeting on November 13 to figure out how to fix burst pipes and potholes in the area, as they received no help from Joburg Water.

Residents discussed hiring plumbers to fix leaks and burst pipes to stop them from leaking thousands of litres of fresh water.

The water flow also erodes the tar on the road and causes huge potholes which are getting bigger and making it impossible to drive on True North Road, which sees a lot of traffic because of schools on the road.

Mulbarton resident Ziyaad Moosajee expressed his views on this water wastage.

“The amount of water wasted is disgusting. We need that water as we are constantly in a crisis with water in this country and this wastage and a lack of maintenance contributes to it,” said Ziyaad.

Clr Matshobane Sekhu attended the meeting and urged residents not to bring in people to do a job that Joburg Water should be doing.

“Understandably, residents are upset but we need to force Joburg Water to do their jobs.”

The Comaro Chronicle is yet to receive a comment on the situation from Joburg Water.
