In a heart-warming display of community spirit and dedication, a team led by a former officer from Brackendowns SAPS organised a special Christmas lunch for hospice patients, thanks to the generous support of a local restaurant and kind sponsors.
The Christmas lunch was spearheaded by Antoinette Foord, who served as an officer for over three decades, alongside her son Eddie, Brackendowns’ Sergeant Lindile Moloi, Zanele Vilakazi, and Alberton SAPS’ Rika Cordier.

Known for their unwavering commitment to the community, they all joined hands to bring festive cheer to the patients and staff of Stepping Stone Palliative Care Services.
Thanks to the generosity of Casa Galo Alberton, a beloved local eatery, the hospice patients and staff were treated to a sumptuous Christmas lunch and presented with 50 goody bags.

The restaurant provided a delicious array of dishes, ensuring everyone could enjoy a festive meal in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The event saw great support from local sponsors and an outpouring of assistance from various community members.
Antoinette and her team made it their mission to spread joy and hope, bringing smiles to everyone present.

Antoinette hopes that this Christmas lunch will become an annual tradition, continuing to bring joy and comfort to hospice patients and staff for years to come.
“We wanted to show that even in challenging times, there is always room for kindness and compassion. This event is about giving back to our community and making a difference in the lives of those who need it most. It was also an opportunity for me to honour my late brother, and it was a personal cause for each and every one of us who organised it,” she said.

“For many of the hospice patients, the Christmas lunch was a rare opportunity to celebrate and enjoy the company of others. We’re extremely grateful for these angels who made this day so special for us. And we thank Rev. Reggie Venter for blessing our occasion with a prayer,” she said.
