Mulbarton’s water woes continues
Mulbarton residents are fed up with the ongoing water crisis, with burst pipes and leakages remaining a problem.
The Mulbarton community is struggling to cope with a five-year-long water crisis, characterised by frequent burst pipes and leakages.
Despite efforts by Joburg Water to repair the damaged infrastructure, the problems persist.
Currently, two leakages from drains on True North Road and Broads Street are being worked on, but residents are losing patience.
The lack of infrastructure development in the area has exacerbated the crisis. Ageing pipes and inadequate maintenance have resulted in a cycle of bursts and repairs, leaving residents without access to reliable water supply.
The situation is not only inconvenient but also poses health risks as there is a lack of fresh drinking water and toilets don’t always fill up with water at any given time.

“We can confirm that all leakages along Broads Street have been successfully repaired. Regarding True North Road, we are addressing two outstanding leakages, including one at the corner of Broads Street and True North Road. Our team is working on these issues, and we will provide further updates as progress is made,” said Joburg Water spokesperson, Nombuso Tshabalala.
Residents are calling for urgent attention to the area’s infrastructure, including the replacement of old pipes and upgrading of the water supply system. Until then, they will continue to suffer the consequences of a crisis that has dragged on for far too long.
