Learners support orphans with Ramadhaan Shoebox Drive

The Sunridge Play School led by example when each learning made a personalised shoebox to spread joy and love to needy orphans.

Ramadhaan is a month observed by all Muslims across the globe, and when Muslims grow their spirituality and closeness to Allah (God).

A Sunridge Play School representative said, “The Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said, ‘The best charity is that given in Ramadhaan’.”

The school, in conjunction with the nationwide Ramadan Shoebox Project, held a collection for needy orphans.

Sunridge pledged a box for each learner, hoping the children would understand and appreciate their privileged lives.

The shoeboxes comprise a decorated box of snacks and goodies, toiletries and educational supplies. Each box is age- and gender-specific, so the children in orphanages across SA can enjoy hand-picked gifts this Ramadhaan.

“Our learners took immense pride in curating their shoeboxes, and we hope to carry on this tradition each year,” said the representative.
