Townsview youth group revives community with clean-up Initiative
The project, supported by the community, is the beginning of a long-term effort to improve the area.
A group of passionate young people from the Townsview Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church, led by youth director Pat Ntombi, set out to make a lasting impact in their community through a clean-up campaign.
The initiative is the beginning of what promises to be a long-term effort to revitalise the Johannesburg south community.
Ntombi and the youth group approached community members and organisations for assistance in launching their project. One key partner in this effort was Dianne Kilian, who provided essential gardening equipment.

“We are thankful for her support. The group could secure a lawnmower and three trimmers, which was a huge help in our mission to make a difference. The clean-up effort began at The Hill Bowling Club, a venue that needed attention.
“Seth Kutuone, who has been managing the grounds of the bowling club for some time, played a crucial role in the clean-up,” said Ntombi. “Kutuone’s knowledge and hands-on assistance were instrumental in getting the bowling club back in shape.”
The youth, alongside other helping hands, worked together to clear the area. However, this is the start. As part of their ongoing initiative, the group has set its heart on the Townsview area next, with plans to extend the project to other parts of the community.

“This initiative is about making a difference,” said Ntombi.
“Our young people are committed to creating a community where we take pride in our surroundings and contribute to the well-being of the place we call home.”
