In the visual arts segment, groups of children from each home created art projects that showcased their creativity through painting and drawing.
This part of the festival allowed them to express their thoughts and emotions through a different medium.

Speech and poetry offered a powerful platform for the children to share their perspectives on issues affecting them and society. They spoke eloquently about generational change, family life, success, and opportunity, demonstrating insight and the ability to express complex ideas.

The dance showcase was a festival highlight, with each home presenting its own choreographed routine. The children proudly celebrated their SA heritage through amapiano and hip-hop dance, displaying skill and passion. Their energy and enthusiasm were infectious, keeping the audience thoroughly engaged.
VOJ chairperson Zaheer Surka outlined the festival’s benefits.

“These children don’t always have a platform to showcase their talents. Vision of Joy creates a space where they can explore all forms of art, learn and grow. By giving them opportunities and including them in something positive, we help them express themselves,” said Surka.
The festival gave the children a platform to express themselves through various forms of art, showcasing their talent and creativity. It was a powerful testament to their potential, clearly showing they have much to offer.

VOJ’s initiative to host the event is commendable, and there is hope for more opportunities like this to be created to support and empower these talented young people.
The VOJ welcomes anyone who wishes to get involved. To grow and make a broader impact, the organisation invites individuals or organisations to contribute -whether through financial support, time, skills, or expertise – to specific projects or the VOJ as a whole.
