Love From Above NPO brings hope and support to Durban schools

The organisations visit to the schools is a reminder that community support fuels hope and learning.

A recent visit from Love From Above NPO brought encouragement and practical support to two Durban primary schools, helping learners and staff face ongoing challenges.

At Elora Primary School in Moorton, Chatsworth, the organisation joined learners and staff for their annual sports day. To add a sweet touch to the occasion, they supplied doughnuts for everyone to enjoy.

Despite the school’s many obstacles, including damaged infrastructure from a past fire, missing ceilings, worn corridors, and a neglected sports field, the event remains a highlight for both learners and teachers.

Love From Above representatives witnessed first-hand the resilience of the school community, where passion for learning and sports thrives even under difficult circumstances.

Funding for even the most basic needs, such as providing learners with lunch on sports day, continues to be a challenge. “Infrastructure is more than just bricks and walls,” said a Love From Above spokesperson. “It shapes how children experience school. When we support these spaces, we’re investing in their futures.”

The organisation also visited Montford Primary School, where they installed a second Jojo tank donated by CTG. The new tank was urgently needed as water cuts in the area worsened.

The school’s first Jojo tank, installed in 2022, has already proved vital, but rising demand made additional storage essential.

Clean water is critical for learners’ health and education, supporting handwashing, drinking, cooking, and cleaning.

Without it, both attendance and well-being suffer. “At Montford, we were reminded how easy it is to take clean water for granted,” said the spokesperson. “Water is essential to keeping a school running smoothly.”

Through these visits, Love From Above NPO emphasised the importance of supporting schools that serve communities in hardship.

Their efforts show how even small acts of kindness and care can create lasting change for children and their futures.
