A national competition invites artists to create a bold new cover for the isiZulu edition of The Brave Pencil, a beloved children’s book about courage and creativity. Entries close September 30.

A nationwide book cover design competition has been launched to celebrate the upcoming isiZulu release of the popular children’s book, The Brave Pencil.

Artists are invited to submit original artwork that captures the spirit of a brave pencil with a distinctly South African theme.

The story, written to inspire courage and confidence in young readers, follows a pencil who finds the strength to believe in himself and embrace new experiences.

Entry costs R30 per submission, with proceeds going towards the printing of the isiZulu edition. Participants may submit multiple entries, each requiring its own entry fee.

The closing date for submissions is September 30 and winners will be announced on social media platforms.

All entries must include the artist’s name, age, contact details, area of residence, and proof of payment, and should be emailed to info@multimarketing.co.za and varshneejoseph@gmail.com

Further information can be obtained by calling or sending a message via WhatsApp to 079 715 5645 or 072 391 7806.

Full competition details are also available online.

The book was inspired by Ziaan Joseph, a seven-year-old Grade Two learner with a love for drawing and storytelling. When he doubted his own drawing skills, the idea for The Brave Pencil was born – a touching tale of perseverance and imagination.
