Mall of the South drives hope through #LivingTheUpside

More than 2 000 donated items were distributed to local non-profit organisations that work to uplift vulnerable women and children.

Mall of the South proudly hosted a community upliftment initiative called #LivingTheUpside, which took place on October 21.

Through this initiative, the mall donated various items to Living Waters of Hope and the Alberton Help Forum via Momo’s Upliftment Centre.

During Heritage Month, Mall of the South, together with its tenants and shoppers, collected 2 150 items of clothing, 150 toys, 56 pairs of shoes, baby wipes, and baby powder.

This substantial contribution is part of the mall’s ongoing commitment to support local non-profit organisations working to uplift vulnerable women and children in the community.

The children were overjoyed to receive their new clothes, shoes, and toys, with their smiles reflecting the hope brought about by the generosity of those who made the day possible.

Their holistic model focuses not just on short-term relief but on restoring dignity, rebuilding confidence, and equipping individuals with skills to reintegrate into society as motivated, employable citizens.

Programmes at Momo’s include practical training in areas such as candle-making, hospitality, and security guard certification, accompanied by counselling, life coaching, laundry and hygiene facilities, children’s play and garden spaces, including a clothing replacement boutique.

Mall of the South has partnered with Momo’s Upliftment Centre in past donation drives, affirming their shared value of building stronger, caring communities.

“Our mission at Momo’s is to break the cycle of poverty and vulnerability, not only through training and empowerment but through building caring relationships, restoring worth, and helping people stand with confidence. Today’s gift will reach children, mothers, and fathers who may have felt forgotten, and let them know that they are seen and valued,” said CEO Gavin Bell.
