Christmas kindness shines for residents at the Society for the Blind
Nadia Mahomed and her team spread generosity and encouragement, showing that giving brings people together and lifts the hearts of all.
The owner of Spaar on Spares in Johannesburg South, Nadia Mahomed, together with her team and Councillor Faeeza Chame, paid a special visit to the Johannesburg Society for the Blind to hand out Christmas hampers to the residents.

Although the residents cannot see with their eyes, they experience the world with their hearts. The visit was met with warm gratitude.

One resident said: “We are so grateful for this donation. It means a lot to us at this time, especially as many of us do not have families to go home to. This will make a big difference.”

Chame and Mahomed shared encouraging words, reminding residents that they are not forgotten, even during the busiest time of the year.

They emphasised that the festive season is a time for giving, kindness, and community, and that everyone deserves to feel valued and supported.

Hampers were also given to staff as a gesture of appreciation for their hard work, dedication, and the vital support they provide throughout the year.

The team highlighted that residents at the Society for the Blind are no different from anyone else and deserve the same love, respect, and care shown to other community members.
“Acts of giving help bring people together and remind us of our shared humanity,” they said.

They expressed hope that this thoughtful gesture would bring comfort and joy throughout the festive season, serving as a reminder that compassion is most meaningful when shared with those who need it most.
