Local businesses launch Christmas food and gift drive in Alveda Park

Residents are being urged to donate food and gifts as local organisations work together to help vulnerable families enjoy a brighter festive season.

Local businesses and organisations in Alveda Park have joined forces to support underprivileged families in the community.

FresH2O Water Shop, Mokgatla Scholar Transport, Amukelani Holdings and WOMan NPO have launched a Christmas food and gift drive aimed at helping families who are struggling financially. The initiative hopes to ensure that no family goes without food or gifts during Christmas.

The drive is calling on community members to donate food parcels and presents. Non-perishable food items such as canned goods, pasta and rice are welcome, as well as fresh produce, including fruit and vegetables. Donors are also encouraged to give new, unwrapped toys, clothing and gift cards for both children and adults.

Theo, founder of WOMan NPO, said the campaign is about restoring hope and dignity during a difficult time of year.

“Christmas should be a time of joy for everyone, but for many families it is a reminder of what they do not have,” Theo said. “With this drive, we want to bring relief, hope and a sense of togetherness to our community.”

All donations can be dropped off at FresH2O Water Shop, located next to Pick N Smile at the Alveda Shopping Centre, on the corner of Paul Street and Marula Street. The drop-off point is open daily from 9:00 to 18:00.

Theo added that even small contributions can make a big difference. “Every donation counts, no matter how small. When we work together, we can make this Christmas special for families who need support the most,” he said.

The organisers are encouraging residents to get involved and help spread kindness during the festive season and beyond. “This is about neighbours helping neighbours,” Theo added. “Together, we can make a real difference.”

For more information, community members can contact Ntebo (FresH2O) on 074 747 7790, Tumi (Mokgatla Scholar Transport) on 063 940 0825 or Theo (WOMan NPO) on 076 926 1883

The organisers have thanked the community in advance for their generosity and support, saying they hope the drive will bring warmth and joy to Alveda Park’s most vulnerable families this Christmas.
