More than a place to trade

Founded by self-taught trader Shamgar Pillay, FX Cartel Traders Lounge was born out of a passion for making trading knowledge accessible to a wider community.

Sham began his own trading journey during the Covid-19 pandemic, teaching himself the complexities of financial markets and developing strategies through persistence and hands-on experience.

What began as a personal pursuit soon evolved into a larger mission. “FX Cartel Traders Lounge is more than just a place to learn how to trade,” Pillay explained during the event. “It’s a community where people can grow together, share knowledge and build confidence in the markets.”

The organisation places a strong emphasis on empowering young people and first-time traders, many of whom may not have traditional access to financial education.

By creating a welcoming environment where questions are encouraged and knowledge is shared openly, FX Cartel aims to bridge the gap between curiosity and competence in trading.

Events like these are part of FX Cartel’s broader vision of building a thriving trading community. Through seminars, mentorship and collaborative learning spaces, the team hopes to equip individuals with the knowledge and tools and confidence needed to pursue opportunities in global financial markets.

As interest in trading continues to grow among young South Africans, initiatives such as the FX Cartel seminar highlight the increasing demand for accessible financial education and supportive learning communities.

For many attendees, the seminar was not just about trading strategies but about connecting with like-minded individuals and discovering new possibilities in the world of finance.
