Donate blood, save lives at community drive
Residents are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and donate blood at Mall of the South on March 21, as SANBS calls on the public to help save lives through a simple act of kindness.
A blood donation drive aimed at saving lives will take place at Mall of the South on March 21, encouraging residents to make a life-saving difference in their community.
The initiative, organised by the South African National Blood Service (SANBS), will run from 10:00 to 13:00 and forms part of ongoing efforts to boost the country’s blood supply and support patients in need of transfusions.
The campaign highlights the powerful impact of blood donation through the story of a transplant survivor named Ryan.
According to the campaign message, Ryan battled illness for 13 years and has now lived two years after receiving a life-saving liver transplant, something he says would not have been possible without the generosity of blood donors.
“Your blood contribution can make a difference in somebody’s life,” the campaign message reads, emphasising that donating blood is not only about giving a pint, but also about giving hope to people facing serious medical challenges.
SANBS regularly calls on healthy individuals to donate blood to ensure hospitals have sufficient supplies for surgeries, trauma care, cancer treatments and other medical emergencies.
Residents are encouraged to visit the donation site at the mall on the day and contribute to a cause that could mean the difference between life and death for someone in need.
