Rand Airport Road finally completed

After postponements the road is now usable to motorists.

Ward 57 Clr Faeeza Chame is pleased that after significant delays in getting the Rand Airport Road repaired, it has finally been completed.

For years, the residents and motorists have been pleading and begging for Rand Airport Road to be resurfaced.

According to Chame, the excuse was always that there was no budget. The road was in such a state that week after week, accidents were reported due to the huge potholes.

“Funding was allocated following intense community pressure including petitions that were submitted to the council. All this was done so that the Johannesburg Roads Agency could address the severe potholes on the route,
“The road resurfacing happened between Germiston and the Thulisa Park/ Elandspark area. I am very pleased that motorist can now travel without having to damage their cars or have to change tyres.

“Residents are encouraged to keep logging calls to the entities. JRA is responsible for potholes, blocked kerb inlets, traffic lights, street markings and street names. Make sure you always obtain a reference number when reporting issues. Let’s get our communities working again,” she said.
