Saree Queen contest to feature at Mondeor fundraiser
The Joburg south community is invited to celebrate with the Gauteng Sanathan Mandir.
East Wave Radio, together with the Gauteng Sanathan Mandir, has invited the public to a spectacular fundraising evening aimed at restoring the temple located at 268 Royal Park Drive, Mondeor, opposite the Mondeor Police Station.
The event will take place on September 19.
The event will bring together music, culture and community spirit to raise funds for the upkeep of the Mandir – a sacred place of worship where the Hindu community gathers throughout the year for prayers, festivals and traditions.
Weekly Satsang is held every Tuesday from 19:00 to 20:00 at the temple.
Guests can expect an unforgettable night of entertainment featuring acclaimed local artists Oriental Nagara, Bhushan Dass, and Divya Art of Dance, who will perform for the audience.
A special highlight of the evening will be the return of the Saree Queen Contest.
Once a much-loved tradition, the competition celebrates the grace, beauty and elegance of the sari and aims to revive this cherished cultural event for a new generation.
Entries for the contest can be made by contacting Simmy on 083 788 9388.
Meals and refreshments will be on sale during the evening, and guests can also stand a chance to win exciting prizes in a lucky draw.
Tickets are available from East Wave Radio. They can also be purchased at 239 Hummingbird Street, Ext 1, Lenasia.
Tickets can also be purchased from Sharmini, who can be contacted on 074 603 6188 or Vasantha on 078 852 8643.
The Gauteng Sanathan Mandir look forward to welcoming the community for an evening of unity, celebration and giving back.
