Lace up for kindness as Cotlands celebrates 90 years
As Cotlands reaches its 90-year milestone, the organisation is urging South Africans to enter the race, embrace the power of play and help give every child the best possible start in life.
Entries are now open for the Cotlands Run to Play Race, powered by Old Parks Sports Club, with runners, walkers, families and corporate teams invited to turn every step into an act of kindness.
The race will take place on (Sunday) November 15, at Old Parks Sports Club in Bordeaux, Randburg, as Cotlands celebrates 90 years of caring for vulnerable children across South Africa.
Held just two days after World Kindness Day, the event reflects the organisation’s long legacy of kindness and impact.
Participants can choose between a 2km fun run/walk for R100, a 5km run for R180 and a 10km run for R200. An official race T-shirt is also available for R120.
Every entry helps Cotlands expand access to quality early childhood care and education through play-based learning programmes.
The organisation says more than one million young children in South Africa still miss out on an early learning programme.
Cotlands CEO, Dr Monica Stach, said the race is an opportunity to turn compassion into action.
“Every race entry is an act of generosity that helps give vulnerable children access to quality early childhood care and education through the power of play,” she said.
Race day begins at 06:30, with the 5km and 10km races starting at 07:30, followed by the 2km fun run/walk at 08:00.
Participants are encouraged to arrive before 07:00. Parking is limited, so ridesharing is recommended.
The day will include the Cotlands Pop-up Toy Library, children’s entertainment, live music, food and a finish-line celebration.
Corporate teams are also encouraged to take part as a team-building activity with a lasting social impact.
MDS Collivery, the official Race Pack Delivery Partner, will provide free race-pack delivery before race day. Its marketing manager, Ziphozonke Zuma, said the company was proud to support an event centred on kindness, community and opportunity.
Group and corporate entries are available through a bulk entry form which should be completed and emailed to marketing@cotlands.org.
