Mondeor CPF fundraiser brings community together

Residents, businesses and community partners supported the annual Wors Day event while helping raise funds for local safety initiatives.

The Mondeor Community Policing Forum (CPF) Sector 2 brought residents, families, businesses and community partners together on September 24 for its annual Wors Day fundraiser at Sasol Columbine.

Community safety support

The event was held to raise funds to help the CPF continue its work in the community, particularly its ongoing partnership with SAPS in supporting safer neighbourhoods.

The fundraiser also showed the strength of the partnership between the CPF and various organisations that continue to support its work. Sasol Swartgoud, McCarthy Geely West Rand, CPS Security, Fox Security, AAA Function Hire, Americandy, the Jacobs family, Roots Protea Glen and D & N Function Hire were among the sponsors who helped make the day possible.

Heritage Day fashion show

The event was not only about fundraising. It was a day for residents to spend time together, meet the people involved in community safety and enjoy a family-friendly Heritage Day celebration.

One of the biggest highlights of the day was the Heritage Day kids’ fashion show. U12 children proudly dressed in their cultural clothing and took to the red carpet, giving families an opportunity to celebrate South Africa’s rich cultural heritage.

Three prizes were offered, adding to the excitement as the children proudly represented their heritage.

Strengthening relationships

For CPF Sector 2 chairperson Shane Thavar, the fundraiser was a reflection of what could be achieved when residents and community partners worked together.

“The support from our residents, families, sponsors and partners showed that our community cared about keeping the Mondeor precinct safe. The CPF could not continue its work without the support of the people and organisations who stood with us,” says Thavar.
